I really loved playing Rise of Nations-
Then I got Lion. I was very disappointed that I could no longer play the game without running bootcamp or some other shit, and missed it very dearly.

I spent hours getting it to work- then, when it finally did, it had no sound. It remained this way for a day or two until finally I tried another way and it worked.

The sound is a half-second or so late, but it is better than nothing. 

Yes, this is a Windows game ported. No, it is not Cider (which can only handle the most advanced graphics), or CXEx (can't work some additional program needed for the game). 

This is WINESKIN, believe it or not. I had to change the wrapper sooooo much to get the game working.

Anyone who downloads this:

Consider yourselves extremely lucky. 

NO NOCD CRACK/PATCH NEEDED!

This is not some "last resort" torrent where it is only for Lion users desperate to play, and Snow Leopard/earlier can just download the mac version; this is the ONLY RISE OF NATIONS MAC TORRENT IN EXISTENCE that

a) Works with Lion
b) Does not require any CD to be inserted or image to be mounted.

ALL mac users who want Rise of Nations should download this torrent, even if you don't have Lion and therefore can run the mac-native version- because this is also NOCD.

Ok i downloaded in about 3 hours, Works GREAT, just one minor thing that irritates me is when i move the mouse NEAR the edge of the screen or go to select something like diplomacy or build the screen scrolls down or whatever direction, is there anyway to fix this , really irritating when trying to select something and then constantly having to readjust the screen back to your city

Thanks for making this! I played the hell out of RoN on my old iBook. I've been thinking about pulling the disk out and installing it, but my plans to _eventually_ go to Lion kept making me pause. Unfortunately my productivity will probably now decline.....

I'm having the same problem as yolo... everything is working up to the point where I see the RoN icon in my desktop, but then when I click on it, I get an error "MSXML 4.0 is not properly installed." Can you please post a fix to this? I'm running Mac OS X 10.5.8. Thank you!

FIX FOR MSXML ERROR:

find on online download of MXSML (are plenty) and then use wine to install it to RoN directory.
Right click on app show package contents, then the "wineskin" app inside, and then run the installer for the mxsml .exe you downloaded. Install to same directory as RoN.

FOR SCREEN PROBLEM:
Go to "Show package contents" then drive_c then users then Wineskin then App Data then Microsoft Games then Rise of Nations then open rise2.ini.

Change
Windowed Width=[Your screen res. width]
Windowed Height=[Your screen res. height].

Then close that. Now go back into the app "Show Package Contents" and then Wineskin app and then Screen Options and then Fullscreen, and make sure to put resolution at current unless that is different from your resolution.

The App doesnt open at all for me I dont understand why. I downloaded the msxml and tried the way to fix it that you commented ukie but i still get the same thing now i dont even get an error message the app just blinks and doesnt open

and i try to mount the "mount with toast 6 file but it wont allow me to do anything... A BIT LOST HERE and i love this game.

Great torrent Ukie! Everything works swimmingly, except I can't seem to change the settings in quick play (it won't let me change age cap, game type, etc). Any idea on how I could fix this?

Hey guys! I'm really excited for this and have done a lot of research to try to get it working as this is my first time. I unzip the file, the click "show package contents", double click Wineskin.app, click "install Windows software", go to the RoN disk, double click "RONSETUP.EXE" It opens up the RoN home Screen that has options to Play, Add/Remove, Register, and Web connection - all with the music that makes me very excited. If I try to Add/Remove, then reinstall (I haven't stalled it but there's no first install option) putting it on the C: drive (sidenote: I have the wrapper in the applications folder). It then goes to the screen where it says it's copying everything. Then it says installations successful (yay), but when I click play now, Wineskin says Can't run rise.exe and the RoN menu goes away. Only then does Wineskin pop up and say "no executables found - Maybe the installer failed". Same happens if I just click Play from the menu without installing it.

Do you guys have any ideas as to a better way of doing this or what might be wrong? maybe I have something saved in the wrong spot? I'd greatly appreciate any help guys I love this game

I'm having the same problem as everyone else. I open the application, pops up twice and then anything happens. I know there is an application in there called Wineskin, if you go 'show package contents'. If you open it, it gives you the option of installing some windows software, but I can't locate the installer from the game.

I'm running it in OS X Lion.
Ukie, please, tell me what to do!!
